Local Company Helps Sir Bobby Charlton with Landmine Clearance

On Thursday, 12th April, Poulton based Michael Barr Wealth Managers will host a Charity Dinner at Ribby Hall to support 2 North West landmine clearance charities, with special guest Sir Bobby Charlton – a great supporter of the landmine clearance cause and founder of one of the chosen charities ‘Find a Better Way’.

The dinner will be held at Ribby Hall, Wrea Green on the 12th April at 7pm.

The evening will feature a charity auction and guest speaker – and landmine survivor – Stuart Hughes. Stuart, a BBC World Affairs producer, was seriously injured in 2003 in a landmine explosion while working for the BBC in Northern Iraq. His cameraman Kaveh Golestan was killed. Following his recovery Stuart resumed his role as a BBC News producer and continues to travel across the world on assignment. Stuart will share his experiences and highlight the value of the land mine clearance cause.

The two charities supported are MAG International (Mines Advisory Group) and Find a Better Way, both based in the North West and two of the most important charities operating in land mine clearance.

Commenting on his choice to support the mine clearance cause Michael said.

“We should be proud of MAG. From a back Street in Manchester it has probably saved more lives than any other organisation on the planet and yet it will take over 1,000 years to get rid of all the mines. Funds are needed to step up the pace. ”

The dress code is black tie and tickets for the evening are available at £50 with all profits going to Landmine Causes.
